Gunpowder Zhu Cha
Also known as Pearl Tea, Gunpowder tea gets its name from the distinct tightly rolled ball shape of the tea leaves, which resemble gunpowder pellets. Our Gunpowder tea is grown in Jinhua region of Zhejiang province in China.
A fuller bodied, very smooth and also mellow green tea, with a nice orange after-taste and a touch of sweet smoky notes.
Gunpowder tea leaves are withered, steamed, rolled, and then dried. Rolling renders the leaves less susceptible to physical damage and breakage and allows them to retain more of their flavor and aroma, which is released upon immersing in hot water.
